Pinball wizards
Four teams of pool and pinball players played nonstop for 50 hours at the week-end to raise $3OO for the Wheels for Wheels project. The final count had not been made yesterday, but the amount collected from sponsors is expected to be above this figure. The players began at 1 p.m. on Friday, and ended at 3 p.m. yesterday afternoon. They took a bre-t for five minutes every hour. Mr T. Wright, manager at the Fun and Games pool room, where the marathon was held, said that 283 games were played on the poof table, which was never empty during the 50 hours. Several days of addition on a 20-digit machine would be required to find the total number of points scored on the pin-ball machine. The money will be used to buy a wheelchair ambulance for quadraplegics at the St John of God Hospital at Halswell.
