Situation: A front is moving northeast over the North Island with a band of rain, and a depression about 300 miles west of Buller is moving east; a cool southerly airstream with showers is becoming established over the south of the South Island and will gradually spread north. Forecast: Canterbury, Kaikoura Coast: Light to moderate winds; cloudy and mild with scattered showers; moderate cool southerlies developing during the morning in the south and spreading
north during the day, and showers becoming more frequent. Central Marlborough, Nelson: Northerlies fresh at times; mainly fair but some showers this after* noon or evening; mild. Marlborough Sounds: Fresh north-westerlies predominating; mainly fair but a few showers likely; moder* ate temperatures. Buller, Westland: Moderate variable winds; cloudy; occasional showers; mod* erate temperatures. Outlook: Fair in the west; showers in the east.
