Retail store competition
A dinner was held on Tuesday evening for the winners of a retail store competition run by Dominion Yams and Fabrics Ltd. The organiser of the competition, the company’s advertising, promotions and public relations co-ordinator, Mrs Pat Winkler, said it was an effective way to acquaint retail store sales personnel with the product they sell. The competition was held to mark the tenth anniversary of the company’s operations in Christchurch. Dominion Yams and Fabrics processes synthetic yams by the Helanca process. The 200 to 300 retail store staff who took part in the competition saw films and visited factories to see how the yam is processed. The staff t|ien answered questions on what they had learnt. Mr J. E. White, the manager of the company, presented prizes to the eight winners. He said the sales staff were an important part in the chain of processes of getting the product to the public.
