Acclimatisation Society
Sir, — In reply to Mr Martin’s letter in “The Press” (October 21), the affairs of the North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society may or may not be well conducted. But it is no
reflection on the society, ori its executive that the special [ meeting of October 17, wa.sj disrupted. Some members’; sole objective appeared to be to interject continually with points of order, or any other' comments which tended to| disorganise the meeting, and! whose comments were frequently irrelevant to the subject. Those who attended to consider the business on the agenda, were in full possession of the facts throughout the meeting and knew the purpose of the division when it was taken to decide the vote for or against the petition. It was particularly noticeable that after the splinter group realised it had lost the vote, it became completely disrespectful to the chair with irresponsible comments and verbal threats. — Yours etc., FACTS. , October 24, 1974.
