Games times altered
Track and field will start earlier, and weight-lighting later, at the first New Zealand Games —to suit the demands of colour television. A meeting of the Games organising committee last evening heard that a break of two hours and a half was needed for colour television. Mr E. Lunn, convenor of the track and field control committee, said, his committee would “gracefully accept” a halfhour earlier start; an hour “under pressure.” The comromlse agreed upon was that track and field would start at 2.30 p.m. (Instead of 3 p.m.), arid weight-lighting at 8.15 p.m. (formerly 7.30 p.m.). Rallying.—A new South Pacific Rally championship has been set up for 1975—a round of which will be the 1975 Heatway International Rally in New Zealand. This will be the first round of the championship, and it will be from July 8 to July 12. in the North Island.
