Hosted by the Christchurch Model Aero Club Since 1967 Australia and New Zealand have competed annually in team radio control model events. Models are of three types: PYLON RACING: Up to four models race simultaneously around a quarter-mile course at speeds up to 140 m.p.h. AEROBATICS: Individual flyers put their models through a complex pattern including 4 and 8 point rolls, spins, loops, bunts and are judged on the precision of their performance. GLIDERS: Graceful sailplanes are controlled into - thermal currents and through speed traps.
