N.Z. drivers for rally

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. Five New Zealand rally drivers will take part in the eighth Safari of New Caledonia in Noumea from November 14 to 17- They are: M. Marshall (Ford Escort RS2000), B. Robson (Ford Escort RS1600), B. Andrews (Fiat 128 Rallye), L. Evans (Skoda S 120), and R. Kendall (Skoda S 120). With the exception of Andrews, who comes from Hastings, all are from Auckland. Their cars will leave for New Caledonia this week on board the freighter Oriental Surveyor. The drivers are not due to fly to Noumea until November 10, although some may leave earlier to inspect the rally route. Last year the event was cut short when New Caledonian fishermen, angered by what they considered inequitable fuel cuts, blocked the roads near Kone in the north-west of the island.
