Press Association) | WELLINGTON, i 1 The exemption from im-| port licensing on antiques of i an age exceeding 100 years i has been withdrawn, and import licences for these goods! will be required in future.! the Minister of Trade and; industry (Mr Freer) an-i nounced. He said it was not the in-i tention to reimpose blanket; import licensing, but the! trend in the balance of pay-i ments had to be recognised. “This was a case where the current level of imports is substantially in excess of normal trade in these goods,” he said in a statement. “In the present circumstances it is important that a close watch be kept on such items.” Goods already shipped before October 11 would be admitted exempt from licence.
