Suit names Nixon

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright) WASHINGTON. The former President, Mr Richard Nixon, has been accused in a multi-million dollars suit claiming damages for illegal wiretaps, according to Court papers. A former National Security Council staff member, Mr Morton Halperin, has brought a civil suit in Federal court for $3 million damages from 10 defendants, including the Secretary of State (Dr Henry Kissinger) and a former Attorney-Gen-eral, Mr John Mitchell.

Lawyers for Mr Halperin last w'eek filed an amendment with Judge John Smith naming the former President as a defendant based on Mr Nixon’s acknowledgement that he had authorised the wiretaps in 1969 to plug national security leaks.
