Mr Power resigns
Mr J. G. Power, who has been secretary to the Mayor (Mr N. G. Pickering) for the last three years, resigned yesi terday. Mr Power, who stood as a • Labour candidate in the East ward for the Christchurch City Council elections on Saturday, took leave of absence from his council duties to conduct Mr Pickering’s election campaign. Both men were narrowly defeated.
