Sustained selling cuts prices back
Australian markets were generally depressed with share prices settling at lower levels in the wake of a sustained selling bout yesterday.
The banks were among the heaviest losers, with the B. dropping 20c to 375 c and C.B.A. 13c to 155 c. B.H.P. was cut back 28c at 500 c while C.U.B. recorded a 12c loss at 140 c. Comalco, Philip Morris, Waltons, Amatil, Thiess and C. were other heavy! losers. Aust. Guarantee lost! al! of Friday’s gain, but Grace Bros and I.A.C. moved

Goldfields dropped 10c to 170 c and Hamersley 5c to 110 c. North 8.H., W.M.C., I A.M.S. and Bougainville! were also unsteady but B.H. South, Emperor and M.I.M. i remained unchanged. Utah moved a little higher at 404 c. Woodside-Burmah and! A.A.R. were heavily cut’ back.
