Press Association) j SYDNEY, Oct. 14. 3 The New Zealand Broadcasting Corporation Sym- -> phony Orchestra was praised today by the “Sydney Morn■j ing Herald” critic, Fred 1 Blanks, for “sheer pluck and a high degree of compett ence” in the opening concert . of its Australian tour. The orchestra began its t two-week tour with a concert > in the Sydney Opera House i on Friday night. Blanks said, "Brian Priest- ? man, a conductor apparently r with springs in his shoes, had t showmanship rewarded with - the kind of musical discipline - and zest that bespeak an f orchestra dedicated and with a very special effort — equal /to its task.”
