U.S. assurance to Japan

Mr William Eberle, President Ford’s special trade representative, has assured Japanese Government officials that the United States will supply Japan with as much food as she really needs, according to official sources in Tokyo. Mr Eberle is on a two-day mission to brief the Japanese Government on Mr Ford’s new economic programme. The sources say that Me Eberle has told Japanese officials that the United States has adopted a “prior reporting” system for food exports, to match them to the actual needs of importing countries.
