Damages claim against Presley
(N.Z. Press Assn—Copyright) RENO, Oct. 14. A man who alleges that he was severely beaten by Elvis Presley’s bodyguards has begun an action, claiming more than SUS6.3m in damages from the singer and several other people. The suit has been filed by Mr Edward Ashley, a realestate developer, who says that the incident occurred on May 20 in the casino of the Sahara Tahoe Hotel. Listed as defendants are Mr Presley, the Sahara Tahoe and its parent corporation, Del Webb International Hotels, several named employees of Mr Presley, and some unknown persons allegedly employed bv either the hotel or Mr Presley. Asked about the incident. Mr Ashley replied: “I have very, very strong feelings about the whole thing, and I don’t want to comment on it. I would rather have it handled through my attorney and the judge and jury.”
