“SPEAK TO DESMOND.”—The visiting entertainer, Des O’Connor, getting on friendly terms with one of the horses he inspected at Morwenstow Stud, Kaapoi, yesterday. Mr O’Connor has extensive interests in the thoroughbred world. He is on of the principal shareholders in Spoiled Lad, an English-bred stallion now in Australia, and owns several broodmares in England. Because of television commitments in England, he will be unable to remain in this part of the world long enough to see the Melbourne Cup, but he tips Passetreul for the great race.
