Mr B. C. Gould, aged 35. a New Zealand Rhodes Scholar, after winning the Southampton West constituency for Labour in the British General Election. Mr Gould, who went to Britain in 1962, upset a 1403 Conservative majority and beat the sitting member, Mr J. Hill, by 6530 votes.
