DIRECTOR INTERNATIONAL ANIMAL SCIENCE RESEARCH Merck Sharp and Dohme (New Zealand) Limited, an international research-based organisation and a leader in the development and marketing of a wide range of animal and human health products, invites applications for the position of Director, International Animal Science Research. The position reports to the Regional Director of Animal Science Research. The location is Auckland city. The major responsibility of the position is the management of a team of veterinarians and our research and demonstration farm. This division is responsible for developmental research and technical support to the Marketing Division. This includes: • Design and conduct of investigations to establish the safety and efficiency of new compounds, new formulations or to establish new claims in New Zealand. • The development of agro-economic data Involving company products. • Liaison with veterinarians, farmers, government and educational bodies. • Investigation of complaints Involving company products. • Local registration of all Animal Health Products. The incubent must work closely with the Marketing Division of the Company to determine priorities, with investigators In other countries and must keep abreast of new developments in his field. ’ The following qualifications and experience are required: • A degree in veterinary science. •• A breadth of experience in the health care of productive animals. • The management skills needed to effectively direct and. co-ordinate the activities of his division. This is a senior management position and this will be reflected in the salary and perquisites offered to the successful applicant.
