BING HARRIS HALF-YEAR
Combined sales 10 p.c. higher Sales of Bing Harris Sargood, Ltd, for the six months to June 19 were about 10 per cent higher than the combined sales of Bing Harris and Company and Sargood Son and Ewen in the corresponding period last year, when these two companies were trading separately.
Forward business booked for the second half of 1974 iis also ahead of forward business booked for the secjond half of 1973, and it is predicted that a satisfactory trading profit for the year will be recorded, says the deputy chairman (Mr W. S. G. Milne) in the half-yearly report.
The remaining subsid- • iaries, chiefly engaged in manufacturing, traded profitably during the first -half of the year. All factories continue to produce at .high levels and have full order book.s Optimism must, however, Ibe tempered by a recogni- ■ tion of problems in the foreseeable future arising from 'the credit squeeze, a shortage of labour, and delays in overseas shipping and local 'transport, Mr Milne says. An unchanged interim dividend of 5 per cent has been declared, payable free of tax from realised capital profits on November 8, ex dividend October 23,
