' Sir, , — Sneers are often directed at supporters of South Africa and Rhodesia because they use a nom-de-plume. The explanation is ; simple. Protesters against these countries — South Africa in particular — are desperate in their efforts to prevent the New Zealand public from being informed of the truth on conditions in South Africa. To prevent, truth coming out, they stick |at nothing to discourage i South African supporters from having their say. Intimidation takes the form of damaging private motor-cars,! slashing tyres, etc. Literature! supporting South Africa has' been removed from public i libraries. One well-known! protest organisation has a' special group of its supporters working on this activity. Anti-South African protesters, on the other hand, have a free run. Intimidation of the opposition is a hallmark of all Communist activities. — Yours, etc., NOM-DE-PLUME. August 28, 1974.
