Wrapping of apples
A definite stand in favour [ ■of retaining the practice of; wrapping export apples was! made by the Apple and Pearl Marketing Board's European! manager (Mr H. N. Guymer); at the annual conference of] the Fruitgrowers' Federation yesterday. The conference discussed; two remits asking the board! to further consider eliminat-j ing the need for wrapping] fruit because of the cost and] likely shortage of wrapping! paper, and asking for trials' of suitable trays. Mr Guymer said he; wanted apples wrapped i because presentation was still vitally important in this fairly conservative but highly competitive market.
