Where heifers over six months of age, which have not been vaccinated against. brucellosis, are sold, except; for immediate slaughter,! the vendor and the auc-| tioneer are liable to be prosecuted and the purcha-) ser, who acquires and subsequently holds such cattle also commits an offence.
According to information; given to North Canterbury Federated Farmers by the regional veterinary officer of the Ministry of Agricul-> ture and Fisheries, Mr H. G. Stockdale, a person: commits an offence who.! without the approval of the Minister, has in his; possession a female calf., more than six months old which was bom on or after September 1. 1971, and which has not been vaccinated against brucellosis; sells any female cattle born after September 1. 1971, and which is more than six months of age and which has not been vaccinated against brucellosis, except where it is for immediate slaughter; and being or having been the owner of any female cattle of six months of age or over fails to produce on demand to an inspector, within seven days a certificate of vaccination for the animal, or other documentary evidence that will veri-
fy or enable the inspector to verify that the animal has been vaccinated.
