Fijians score six tries

(NZ. Press Association) WANGANUI

Seven thousand Wanganui Rugby fans might be excused for believing a Fijian basketball team had invaded Spriggens Park yesterday afternoon.

Throwing passes from every conceivable position, even when pressed hard on defence, Fiji beat Wanganui, 28-9, for its seventh success of the tour.

Greater flexibility of movement and superior pace proved the decisive factors in Fiji’s favour. Avoiding direct confrontations with the determined Wanganui pack, Fiji elected to keep the ball airborne. It made for a match of many moods and contrasting standards. Errors came thick and fast, but the Fijians fashioned together sufficient copybook Rugby and scored six tries for a thoroughly deserved victory.

Its tries came from T. Rabuli (2), V. Mocelutu (2), J. Visei and A. Naituyaga, who also kicked a conversion. The other conversion came from I. Batibasaga. L. R. Barrell scored all of Wanganui's points, a dropped goal and two penalties.
