467,000 WATCHED NIXON
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 12. The live telecast by satellite of Mr Richard Nixon’s resignation speech drew an estimated television audience on Friday of 467,000, the N.Z.B.C. said today in a statement. This is four times more than the number of viewers who watch television at the regular weekday opening time of 2 p.m. The figure was assessed after an N.Z.B.C. telephone survey of the audience in the four main centres. The number of N.Z.B.C. radio listeners was about 421,000, the same as for any broadcast at 1 p.m. on a weekday.
