Concern about salesmen
A protest has been lodged; with the New Zealand Insur-I iers and Underwriters' Asso-| jciation about the selling prac-j itices of some insurance sales- ; [men operating among! istudents at the Christchurch I Teachers College. ’ The Christchurch Teachers College council has written jto the association protesting lat the “pressurising tactics” jof some insurance salesmen. ’ The acting principal of the secondary division of the col-; ’lege (Mr A. Cargo) and the ! president of the college’ [students’ association (Mr-M.l Peck) said that students, were annoyed at being bothered by salesmen from insurance' companies who often; wandered on to the college; campus, unannounced, and “pestering.” There were some sugges-i tions, Mr Cargo said, that a , good deal of duplicity had’ been used by the salesmen. “There is a legitimate field for this type of work but; students are bothered by the present operations of some, salesmen,” he said.
