ACCOUNTING STANDARDS
The first statement by the Society of Accountants of standard accounting practice would be made before the end of the year, the president of the society (Mr E. A. Craig, of Tauranga) said. Speaking at a function for new members of the society, Mr Craig said: “Without a doubt accounting will never be fully respected unless and until accounts prepared by: the profession have the same meaning to financial institutions, banks, and the investing public as they do to the author himself. “As from January 1 of this year compliance with the statement of auditing standards became mandatory and we are proud of the fact that we have joined other countries in promulgating and working to such standards.”
