A record entry of more than 5000 lined up at the Sydney Town Hall, and thousands waited at Bondi t see the runners finish. Farrington's time. 4.”>min ■2lsec. was 10 secs slower than his winning effort last iyear, but the runners had a blustery head wind on the iVaucluse Heights nt the run to the finish. The winner was alwav s with the leaders, but was given plenty of competition by Manners, Tuttle. W. Scott, of Victoria, and D. Sirl, of New Zealand. BUSY WEEK-END Sirl finished second in the New Zealand cross-country championship on Saturday, then flew from Whangarei to Wellington and on to Sydneyon Saturday night. Sirl forced the pace early in the race to the surf, but finally the programme he had set himself took its toll.
