Meat-theft ‘remedies’
AUCKLAND. July 31. The Auckland Freezing Workers’ Union decided today to take several steps to, try to deal with problems caused by meat thefts from freezing works. The union executive derided at its quarterly meeting to.— Ask freezing works to give their staff a bigger reduction in meat prices. .Seek a meeting with the Ministers of Police and Justice to ask for legal limitations on the powers of the police to make searches Request freezing workers to endorse a proposal that the activities of meat thieves be positively discouraged. The president (Mr F. E.I Barnard i said the union was concerned to put an end to meat thefts but at the same time to protect the rights of, its members.
