Jockeys fined
L R. Grant was fined $2O by the South Canterbury Jockey Club’s judicial committee on Saturday for careless riding in the second division of the Caroline Stakes. Grant, the rider of Blarney Castle, allowed his mount to shift ground when not the required distance clear of Pearl of Arem. G. R. Heaton was fined $2O after an adjourned inquiry into the Doncaster Handicap on the first day. It was established that Heaton, the rider of Windvale Boy. caused minor interference to Strad. 50 metres short of the winning post.
