Merv Smith hosts a series of stories from children's literature and through different voice portrayals interprets the characters of Paddington Bear, Sam Cat and Dudley Pig. in "Paddington, Sam. Dudley . . . and Merv.” The 10-minute programmes deal with the adventures of the three characters, beginning with Paddington’s arrival from darkest Peru and subsequent discovery behind some mailbags at Paddington Railway Station. From there he goes to live with the Brown family and his adventures begin. The second half of each programme introduces two fine detectives in the shaoes of Sam Cat and Dudley Pig, who solve crimes such as the "Supermarket Mystery” and "The Great Pie Robbery.” These stories are sp ! 't into serial form over all four programmes. "Paddington. Sam. Dudley . . . and Merv," an N.Z.B.C. production by lan Richards., begins screening on Wednesday at 4.49 p.m.
Raised offer "When you consider that the original offer was $2, we should act speedily,” said Mr R. F. Stead, when the North Canterbury Catchment Board accepted an offer of $2OO from the Ministry of Works for 3.13 ha of board land, taken for the purposes of the Northern Motorway. The sale also included the “air space” above the land.
