Fewer companies were registered inf New Zealand in April—696, compared with 725 in Aprip, 1973, according to the Companies Office. Three of the new companies had between them nominal capital of $5,600,000 of the total nominal capital o£ the 725 companies of $10,087313. Five companies were reported as being the subjects of court ofders to wind up, and 26 went into voluntary liquidation. The figures tor April, 1973, were seven and 13. i j. During the month 275 companies were dissolved either by liquidation being completed, or by their names being struck off the Register. Last year, 153 companies wpre dissolved during the same month. During April, 168 companies increased their nominal share capital by a total of $13,122,661. There were two reductions of capital reported, involving $76,800. In April, 1973, there were 203 increases of capital, and no cases where capital was reduced. As at April 30 there were 95,543 companies on the register, compared with 89,469 companies at the same date in 1973. Included in those figures are overseas companies, which number 513 and 503.
