Fast growth in Auckland
| (IV.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. By 1976 the Auckland area is likely to have more people than the South Island, according to an Auckland Re gional Authority suiWy. The survey found that Auckland’s labour force between 1951 and 1971 grew 101 per cent, compared with 51 per cent for the whole country. About half Auckland’s population increase results from migration from other places, and of the migrants, one-third are non-European —a proportion which is growing. The region’s labour force is likely to double before the end of the century-.
