Victims of tragedy
(N.Z. Press Atsociation) AUCKLAND, July 3. The police have identified the three persons who died in a Pukekohe cottage tragedy on Monday night. A woman and a girl were dead after firemen put out a car fire in a shed on the property. A man was found still alive but he died before he could be admitted to hospital. He was William Turnbull, aged 58, a market gardener, of Attewells Road, West Pukekohe.
He had wounds to his stomach and throat.
The dead woman was Mrs Harriet Tupe, aged about 48, of the same address, and the girl was
Rosina Tupe, aged 15, her daughter. The police found a small axe land a knife in the cottage.
Detective Inspector R. R. Chadwick said that the police were treating the incident as homicide; they were not looking for anyone concerning the deaths.
