Oysters up in price
Oysters have gone up in price this week. Raw oysters in Christchurch have risen by 5c a dozen and now cost 60c, and there is a variety of prices for cooked oysters ranging from 80c to $1 a dozen.
Wholesalers put up their price to retailers throughout New Zealand by 5c to 6c a dozen on Monday to cover increased costs in the industry at Bluff, including the 9 per cent general wage order, the New Zealand Press Association reported last evening. In Invercargill, raw oysters are now 62c a dozen, an increase of 7c, and cooked oysters have risen to 75c a dozen, an increase of 9c. Otago and Wellington have also had increases. In Otago, oysters now cost 60c a dozen, an increase of sc, and cooked oysters cost 75c a dozen, a rise of 7c.
Raw oysters are now 80c a dozen, up 10c in Wellington retail shops. Fried oysters cost up to $1 a dozen.
