About 40.000 spectators saw, Phar Ace, ridden by K. Mitchell,; hit the front on the home turn and kick away from the field to score by two lengths and a half with a long neck between second and third. The 1974 Perth Cup winner,; Allegation, fell about 1200 metres from- the post. Phar Ace lias no" raced 19 times for eight wins, two seconds ■ and a third for stakes totalling 565.990. He is engaged in the Sydney Turf Club Cup at Rosehill next Saturday and the Brisbane Cup at Eagle Farm in June. Igloo, runner-up in the 1971 Caulfield Cup and Melbourne Cup. looked a threat on entering the straight but his big weight of 60kg took effect and he had to struggle to hold a minor placing. Tavel. trying to win his third Adelaide Cup — he scored in 1970 and last year — could finish only ninth.
