Men believed drowned

Police searching lor three hunters reported missing in Fiordland now believe the men were swept away and drowned while trying to cross a rhci.

Xo trace was found in a search by aeroplane and on foot yesterday. A police party is staying in the area to continue looking for the men's bodies. The men appeared to have crossed the Hokuri River and to have been swept away when they tried to recross, police said. Equipment and carcases apparently left early last week have heen found at the water’s edge.
