‘Pinocchio’ in May

“Pinocchio,” a play for children, is to be produced for eight performances this month by the Pegasus Players. The play has been adapted by Brian Way, and is being produced by Ngaire Tonkin. The title role is played by Simon Hume, who made his first appearance with Pegasus Players nearly three years ago, and was recently one of the cast of the Christchurch Operatic Society’s production of “The King and I.”

Pinocchio’s maker, Gepetto. is played by Cecil Davies, of Crescent Theatre. The play will be presented in the Mount Pleasant Community Centre on May 16, 17, 18, 23, 24, and 25, with matinees on each Saturday. A feature of the production will be audience participation — much of the action will take place in the body of the theatre.
