Aust. musicians tour

The Scotch College Orchestra, from Melbourne, whose 108 instrumentalists double as choristers, will arrive in Christchurch for a series of rehearsals and concerts on .May 24.

After rehearsals during the week-end at Christ’s College Hall and a further rehearsal [at the Town Hall on Monday morning, the orchestra will give a special concert for i schools in the afternoon at the Town Hall, which has already been booked out. and a public concert in the evening. On the evening of May 25, they will be the guests of the Royal Christchurch Musical Society at its concert in the Town Hall. ’

It was hoped that the visit would lead to an exchange scheme with the orchestra, whereby the Christchurch Youth Orchestra could travel to Melbourne, and perhaps also to Sydney, to give concerts, the conductor of the
