Committee on arts
A committee of local body and arts representatives has been formed to investigate the possibility of a metropolitan community arts council for Christchurch. The Mayor (Mr N. G. Pickering) said last evening that a metropolitan council would strengthen the arts. Small organisations which were struggling to continue would benefit from a parent body. The committee comprises Messrs Reeves Harris (convener), D. B. Rich, N. G. Pickering, R. Field-Dodgson, G. R. Lascelles, J. K. Collins, F. Paterson. H. G. Hay, and ,M, Warren.
