Working men’s club indoor bowls title

After M. Berkeley I (Woolston) and R. R. . Stewart (Hornby) had been locked together at 4-all i after five ends, and 5-all after seven, Berkeley made ' the breakthrough in the next four ends to win the [ Canterbury Working Men’s I Clubs’ indoor bowls singles title yesterday. The semi-final between : Berkeley and J. Fallon was a i repeat of the Canterbury .'singles final, with Berkeley ;again going ahead in the latter stages. The score was 14-all after six ends, but Berkeley got a four and a I single to put him well ahead. ■ Stewart and K. Becker were 'locked at 8-all after nine ends, and Becker got a single (on the tenth end. But Stewart i scored the necessary two to I win on the eleventh. CASUALTIES The winner last year, L. G. McLennan, was. an early casualty, and the runner-up to him. H. McTague, of Tinwald, also went down by a single point. P. Thomas, a member of the Canterbury A. |S.
