100yd dash record shattered
(N.Z. Press Assn — Copyright) KNOXVILLE (Tennessee.) I. Crockett, a slightly built 24-year-old Southern Illinois graduate, has shattered B. Hayes’ H-year-old world record in the 100yard dash with a time of 9.0 sec.
Crockett’s time shaved a tenth of a second off the record Hayes established on June 21, 1963, at St Louis.
There was virtually no wind during the race, on the University of Tennessee’s artificial track, which was slightly wet from rain earlier in the day.
