Competitions festival |

The vocal music, instrumental music, dancing, and speech and drama competitions in the Christchurch Competitions Society's annual festival began on Saturday . The festival has attracted about 3boo entries—about 500 more than last year. They are being held m the Shirlev Bovs’ High I School Hall, the Shirley Intermediate School hall, and the Shirley Methodist Church hall.
