Trotting CHANCE FOR STAR GUEST AT ADDINGTON TONIGHT

Two fine placings by Star Guest at the recent Forbury Park meeting should be rewarded with a win in the New Zealand Autumn Stakes at Addington Raceway this evening. The withdrawal of the tine Southland three-j-ear-old. Lunar Chance, has left a fairly open field and there is plenty of room for a surprise.

Star Guest has been a model of consistency this season. Her 27 starts have resulted in four wins and 12 placings. a record which could have been better with just a little better luck in some of her races. On Saturday at Forbury Park she was always prominently placed and it was only in the last few I metres that she was masterI3d by Stroll Away. If she I aces as generously again, she should break through for I in overdue win. I Forta Cavalla is one of I the most consistent threeI year-old fillies in Canterbury. Her win on Saturday at Forbury Park followed on three fine placings. The rise in class in this field should not stop her racing prominently once more. Noble Charles will be having his first start at Addington Raceway and his first since he finished fourth behind Kotare Legend at Methven a few weeks ago. He has had a chance to freshen since then and he will only have to race as well as he did when he won the Hororata Cup io be one of the top chances. High Chaparral. General Demand, Siouan and Canny Glen are others capable of adding interest to the fihish. Auckland bound Priority will probably be favourite for the Fantom Handi-j cap, the second leg of the main! double, on the strength of his splendid win on the course on I Anzac Day. He is booked to go! north and race at the Auckland' meeting and if that trip is to be! justified he will need to make a bold showing tonight.

Now Charles, a most consistent trptter. Dupreez, Hal Good, Castleton’s Pride, Screws Loose and Waipounamu are others expected to race prominently. The on-course double will be run on the R. W. Saunders Stakes and the Free Holmes ■Handicap, Spry Guy and Songcan forming a likely combination. Fair weather is forecast and the track will be fast.
