Aristocratic insect

A new animated series for children, “Manfred,” which begins on Wednesday afternoon, consists of stories and characters created by Owen Paterson, a former radio and television announcer in Christchurch. Manfred is a praying mantis. An aristocrat of the insect world, he sports a dinner-jacket and a monocle as well as a posh accent. He considers himself to be the brains of the insect world and lords it over his fellow creatures which include Sir Arnold, a snappy retired officer from the Ant Army;
