The feasibility of Mr R. S. Scott’s proposal for a New Zealand games will be considered by a meeting at the Commonwealth Games office in Christchurch on Saturday.

Although he has made it clear that he does not wish to be involved in the scheme, Mr Scott has agreed to call the initial meeting. He has invited the president of the New Zealand

Federation of Sport (Mr J. R. Buckingham), the chairman of the Government’s national council for sport (Mr D. J. Sullivan), and Messrs A. J. Donaldson and M. R. Duckmanton (representing swimming), Messrs C. A. Blazey and B. H. Kerr, (athletics), Mr A. I. Cottrell (chairman of Commonwealth Games Promotion), and six senior members of the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee, plus its executive secretary (Mr A. W. Barrett). The six are Messrs H. C. Blazey, J. E. Davies, M. F. Hunter, H. T. Dean, N. R. Searell and J. O. Hattersley.

Mr Scott said yesterday that he had called the meetat the behest of Mr Blazey, whom he hoped would be installed immediately as chairman.

( It would be, he said, for the meeting to decide on the merits of the scheme and if it found favour to consider how the games should be organised and financed, when they should begin, what sports should be involved, and whether it should be an annual or biennial event.
