Judo titles postponed

The Oceania iudo championships. planned for Christ church in July, have beer postponed until next year. But they are still likely to be held in the city.

The championships were postponed mainly because of the difficulty in financing an Australian team to New Zealand, said the vice-president of the Canterbury area association (Mr M G. Ravenscroft).

The Australian championships will be in Perth tins year, and judokas will be subjected to considerable expenses in attending their national tournament. Mr Ravenscroft said that judokas from the Oceania countries also had an eye to the Asian tournaments this year.

He said, however, that the Canterbury association was still expected to siage the biennial tournament, to be held in the Town Hall over two days in either April or May next year.

Teams from Australia. New Caledonia. Papua New Guinea, Asia, and New Zealand are expected to attend
