Three hundred more meters
Three hundred new parking meters are being installed in Christchurch, in line with a decison made by the Chrstchurch City Council early last year. The delay occurred because new meters were awaited.
Two-hour meters are now being installed on both sides of Cambridge Terrace, between Colombo Street and Manchester Street, an
area which has been almost entirely devoted to all-day parking for many years.
In line with the council's decision, two-hour meters will be installed in Chester Street West, between Durham and Victoria Streets; in Madras Street, between Cashel and Tuam Streets; in Welles Street, Dundas Street, and on the east side of Montreal Street between Worcester and Cashel Streets.
One-hour meters will be installed in Manchester Street between Welles Street and Dundas Street.
The meters are checked and adjusted before they are installed, and the full programme of installation is expected to take some time.
