CONCORDE HOPES
LX’.Z. Press Assn—Copyright) LONDON, April 29.
Without giving a source for its story, the "Sunday Express” says that negotiations on across-the-world routes for the supersonic airliner, the Concorde, are being proceeded with by the British Government with a score of countries, including Australia.
One of the supersonic, corridor routes, according to the newspaper, would allow the British-French airliner to fly from London and Paris to Australia by crossing the Mediterranean, the Middle East, India, South-East Asia. Indonesia, and then over Australia to Sydney.
Concorde services are expected to cut the present London-Sydney flying time from almost 26 hours to 16.
The “Sunday Express” says that the Concorde will appear on the Australian run late in 1976, after the opening of services between London, Paris, New York, and Japan earlier that year. Standard production versions of the controversial airliner will begin route-proving flights this autumn, to Australia. Asia. Africa, and North America, the “Sunday Express” says.
