HAWERA. April 21. A 15-year-old girl passenger in a stationary car died in Hawera early today when the car burst into flames j after being hit by a taxi. She was Lynda Porter, who was 15 today. She was the daughter of Mr and Mrs S. Porter, of Disraeli Street, Hawera. The crash occurred in Glover Road at 12.20 a.m. Within a few minutes the car was reduced to a bumtout shell. Two other passengers in the car were taken to hospital. A girl was suffering from shock, and was discharged today. A youth is detained with burns. An inquest into the death I of Miss Porter was adjourned) 'for further inquiries.
