Canterbury men beaten in squash rackets

Canterbury beat Southern Dis-; tricts in the annual squash, rackets match at Timaru. but the Southern men excelled themselves by winning their section, 11 matches to nine.

The women’s section went to' Canterbury, 11-1, and tlie Colts’ was won by Canterbury by 16' games to 14 after matches were level at 4-4. The man of the contest was B. Gardiner, No. 1 for Southern. He maintained the high standard he showed at Easter in tlie Sumner ; tournament in defeating V. Har-. greaves and M. Billington. Hargreaves lasted out the da' well, showing fine control ini beating D. Lyons in four games! after Lyons had taken the first; with a series of dazzling drives | and volleys.
