Native Track fancied in Great Autumn

Native Track has been out of luck in several of her races this season, but the tide may turn for the Woodville-trained mare in the Great Autumn Handicap at Riccarton tomorrow.

There was merit in her fifth after being held up for a run in the straight in the George Adams Handicap on the first day of the meeting, and from the minimum she poses an obvious threat to the South Island’s best. Bel Cavallo, winner of the George Adams Handicap, is engaged again, and Loch Linnhe brings good Southland form to bear on the race after his win in the Riverton Cup last Saturday. The Great Autumn Handicap was won in the Hazlett colours last year by Loch Linnhe’s former stablemate, Tourie. The Great Autumn Handicap will be the first leg of the T.A.B. double. The second leg is the Waltham Handicap, which will provide another clash between Shudup and Grey Way, the first two in the Great Easter. Other appealing chances in this 1400 metres race are Zarnia and the lightweight, Entourage. There will be quinellas on all races and an on-course concession double on the Richmond Handicap and the Harewood Handicap No. 1. 11.5 a m.— PEERSWICK BRUSH HURDLES, $1650; 2600 m.
